JAN ROKUS VAN ROOSENDAEL

Jan Rokus van Roosendael went his own way, averse to movements, hypes and fashions. A path which not only resulted in a series of compositions, but a collection of works with an enormous expressive power. Modern and yet rooted in tradition, abstract and also engaged in the world at large. The cyclical principles of eastern music and later the early polyphony of the western Christian tradition, found their own idiosyncratic way into his works.
Jan Rokus had a unique voice within the Dutch compositional landscape. In order to keep the significant oeuvre of Jan Rokus van Roosendael in the public eye the Stichting Jan Rokus van Roosendael has been established.
